WoM - Yes, you guessed it - Stas!
Another fiesty game (more on that later) which had more analysis than the on-going phone hacking scandal.
Whites built a steady lead through a combination of ball retention and predatory finishing by Ravi. Colours were disjointed as Dimi and Stas did their Greek thing and tried to take turns being Diego Maradona in the 86 World Cup (ie one man team). They had neither the skill-set nor the brains to pull it off.
Amit and Mone then attempted to grab the game by the scruff of the neck by involving the recently imprisoned energiser bunny Sunny into the game and hallelujah Colours cut the lead to 1 albeit helped by a brain explosion by the steady Whites.
Then controversy. Aman and Amit were involved in a frantic debate on whether Aman's foot was in the box when he cleared a rebound and to my relief my son's namesake managed to win the debate and avert a possible equaliser. Nevertheless Nuns cooly finished to restore a 2 goal advantage. Game over.
From a personal point of view it is always a satisfying experience when The Greeks start swearing in their mother tongue when the lights go out. It basically means 'a job well done' and allows oneself a little snigger and a self congratulatory pat on the back!
Anyways back to the fiesty nature of the game as mentioned earlier. Consensus is everyone is enjoying Tues nights immensely. Proof is that people are jacking bdays anniversaries to play which is fantastic.
However we need to stop the niggly and potentially dangerous challenges that could cause injury. No need to name call as we have been all guilty but time to draw the line as frankly no one can afford to get injured with the amount of stuff going on in our lives!
